25 Things To Do Before You Get Married...

So for the past 6 months, it seems to me like just everyone on my fb list is getting married. I mean seriously...from my junior in high school to senior from college...from my fourth cousin to...wait I don't even remember who that guy is, but he's getting married too!
I don't understand whats all the rush about. Given all the hype and hoopla about finding "the one" and getting settled down with him, I think we are forgetting about all the awesome things that we can do in the mean time. While some of these are optional, there are 25 things that feature as "must do" on my premarital bucket list.
So here it goes...the 25 things that according to me every girl should try out before getting married:

1) Adopt a Pet - Before you take on the big responsibility of taking care of your life partner and his family, try taking care of a pet. Try catering to your pet's needs (which I am sure will be way wayy less then your life partners), taking care of his fooding habits and cleaning up his shit...

2) Travel with your Girlfriends - For one you will rarely get to do this after you get married and secondly I believe there is something too comfortable, fun-filled and yet adventurous about holidaying your girlfriends!

3) Travel Alone- Just pick up your bag-pack, choose a place you have never been to before and leave. Marriage they say is a journey...So before you gear up to take that journey with your  partner, why not travel alone once, explore new places, meet new people, learn about new cultures and somewhere along the path, you will realize, you have learnt something new about yourself too.

4) Make out with a Complete Stranger - Yes!!! Why not...Saw a really cute guy over the bar...reach out to him, drink two tequila shots, hold him by the collar of his shirt, take him to a secluded area and voila! Time to have some fun girl !!!

5) Face one of your Fears - Scared of heights, do skydiving...scared of water, take swimming lessons...anything....but face your fears alone, and the feeling you will have after  that cannot be  compared to anything else!

6) Get a Tattoo - Believe me girl, a tattoo is more permanent than a marriage!

7) Live Alone - Or with roomates, but not your parents! Autonomy is awesome, have your own place, manage your own finances, nobody lecturing you about sleeping late or not  helping with the  household chores.

8) Suffer a Heart Break - Cry yourself to sleep, wake up to a wet pillow, experience the not being    able to  breathe feeling by the mere mention of his name, watch your hunger die  and your smile vanish...But believe me coming out of it will make you a stronger  individual, it will teach you to never take love for granted and understand the true value of the right guy when he comes along.

9) Dump Someone - Well pleasant experience or not, its somehow empowering to be the one who    calls the final shot in a relationship and ends it for the right reason.

10) Get in touch with those Five People who at a point Mattered a lot to You - Marriage introduces you   to whole lot new arena of relations...Before taking on that challenge, why not revive those that you  already have!

11) Work hard at Job - Make a career choice, get a job and work your ass-off at being the best at    it.

12) Try Something New - A new cuisine, a new religion, a new language or just a new hobby...the    idea is just to get out of your comfort zone.

13) Make strangers feel uncomfortable in public places - Whistle at a passing by stranger, eve-      tease a hot guy, make loud and weird sounds while having your soup on a date or simply play "I wanna f**k you"-Akon in a metro. I don't think this one has a logical explanation, but just do it for the heck of it!

14) Start a savings account - Before planning it with somebody else, plan your future on your own. Start a savings account and be prepared for any kind of emergencies without relying on anybody else.

15) Dance in the rain - I mean it, don't just get wet in the rain, feel those raindrops on your face,   let them wash away the worries, play your favorite song in your mind and just forget everything  and dance.

16) Splurge on yourself - Just because you can....and once a while, you deserve it!

17) Clean up your Act - AKA no smoking, less drinking, healthy eating more exercising.

18) Get to know yourself - Should go without saying! Before getting to know your partner, know all  about yourself!

19) Get over your Past Relationships - Every relationship leaves some footprints behind, so before  entering into the new phase of your life, don't forget to erase all those old memories. Believe me  there is no point in carrying dead load on your back!

20) Write Down your Feelings in a Blog - Well am doing it, why can't you. There are times when you want  yourself to be heard, a blog could serve as a perfect platform for you.

21) Do some charity - Or some social work...Donate just 2% of your income or spend an hour teaching kids  who cannot afford education or spend some time on a weekend at an old age  home...The joy of doing something for someone without any personal gain is incomparable.

22) Fall in Love with the Bad Guy - By bad I don't mean a biker dude with tattoos, by bad I mean a  guy who hurts you everyday without leaving any physical marks, who makes you cry for hours, who does every possible wrong with you and still blames you for spoiling the relationship.

23) Date two guys at once - For once be the bad girl, and see for how long can you keep the act  hidden ;)

24) Have a Friend with Benefits - Don't enter into all those technicalities of a relationship...Just have your friend with some added benefits!

25) Fall in Love...with Yourself - Before falling in love with somebody else, fall in love with  yourself...Believe me, it makes things a lot more easier.

I carry your heart...

Once in a while, we come across a piece of writing...a story, a poem or just a prose that touches you in a way that you can't describe in words...Somehow it manages to put all those feelings, that you didn't even know existed, right in front of you...So I am sharing this astonishing piece of work by E.E.Cunnings...It managed to touch my soul in ways I can't describe...Hoping that it would have a similar effect on you...

I carry your heart with me
I carry it in my heart
I am never without it
Anywhere I go you go, my dear;
And whatever is done by only me
Is your doing, my darling.

I fear no fate
For you are my fate, my sweet
I want no world
For beautiful you are my world, my true world
And it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
And whatever a sun will always sing is you.

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
And the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
Which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide
And this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart
I carry it in my heart...

Isn't that wonderful?

Over the course of your life there will be many people who capture your heart. They may be funny or smart or strong, they may tell interesting stories or they may even harass you constantly.

But there will always be a person. One person, and only one, who will see your essence, the very soul that makes you up. They will see it, and unlike any others that may accidentally catch a glimpse of it, they will be fascinated. They will be drawn to you, they will want to pick you apart, to lay you bare, to inspect each and every piece of what makes you, you. And do you know what they will do after they find out every last thing about you? Every last flaw, quirk, and imperfection? They will fall in love with you. Isn’t that wonderful?

A Poet's Muse...

An emptiness takes over me
Struggling to break free from its mould

This heart is mildewed with aches so old
Desirous to be loved incredibly
In a way that only a poet could love his muse
Deeply, painfully, passionately
But then again...a muse is a muse is a muse...
a fleeting thing of beauty that catches the eyes
Spills of ink that changes hues,

until another comes along and changes his views....

Crashing Storms...

If I close my eyes, I can hear the waves crash against my ribs. You once told me my love, that I had an ocean in my soul, with dark depths, that no human could ever reach; but I think the real sea lies between us, in this cold, unforgiving bed.

I try to reach for you within my dreams, but the current sweeps me away. Pulling me farther, farther away from your glittering shores.

Each time I think of you I am blinded by the blazing sunset. I wonder if you ever try to swim to me.

I open my eyes and lightning flashes across my skies; I can feel the breeze of the oncoming storm. The ghosts of lost loves tell me that I should turn back, but I have come too far. I stand tall against the winds because you must know, you are the storm I am willing to be destroyed in.

No...

When she shattered the last dinner plate on the kitchen floor,
She stopped breathing, the question was a scratch in her throat.
She said, “Do you even love me anymore?”
The words were as sharp as the shards now hiding behind table legs and cabinets.
He looked at her, his eyes quiet and graceful, his mouth holding the answer like a prison holds a murderer, afraid That releasing the sound would break much more than the silence.
He could hear her heart pulsing, every beat like another whisper of the conversation they hadn't had, and with Every contraction another swallowed scream that she buried into her heart.
And he wondered how a chest could hold a broken heart and how could the eyes hold so many tears and how could the mind hold such an emotional hurricane.

Without looking at her, he said, “no.”

She didn’t break like the silence...
She didn’t shatter like the dinner plates...
She didn't cause destruction like the hurricane...

She just closed her eyes, let the tears flow out and walked away with her broken heart...
